Halloween Speculations

If the universe is one
perhaps one starts seeing unity in terms of unexplainable connections
and life becomes like a dream, a game,
a story that all of us (all of us being one) made up.
Will everything become possible
and yet as insignificant as a story in a book?
Will we still become caught up in the story
but then remember that it is just an imaginary world, not real,
not compared to the internal world,
the world of the heart.

Just speculation.
Just the ramblings of a renegade heart.
Makes no sense to mind.
Does not fit into the story.
Perhaps we have been hung for less.

A humorous thought for Halloween.

This Damn Darkness

We stumble about in the darkness
only vague and uncertain memories of a path.
Yet we were there, home, many times.
It seems like a dream, or it is forgotten altogether
but it is there, not far.

If only this darkness would pass
I think that we would see it from here.
This damn darkness of our constant chatter.
Seeming endless night, constant confussion.

Take courage my be-nighted companions
Even now I seem to remember home.
I know that we are not far.
Have faith. Deep inside you know.
Keep trying to remember.
We will walk together.

The Only Game in Town

Driving down the road I thought, for the first time, “Not me, but you.”

I tried to look with my eyes for God, so that God might see this beautiful evening. “Perhaps this is a gift that I can give and that He can enjoy as a token of love.”

And suddenly the road became a magical river.
I saw the things that I have longed to see.
All of the same things but alive, flowing,
constantly changing and always intriguing.

Can this be right,
that I can simply give this gift to God and receive what I want?
There is a trick I think.
Was not the real gift the love that made me want to give,
and the vision I found so appealing
a token of love,
and a confirmation.

Hmmm…….God’s reciprication?
God might give me rough handling for my love
for nothing can benefit me more.
Nothing can bring me closer.

Love, is quite a dangerous game,
but it is the only game in town.
