Simplicity of the Eternal

Love accumulates and grows, eternally.
All else quickly fades away.

Many seek something that will last
never seeing the simple and obvious,
putting great effort and faith into things
as if those trinkets could give a taste of satisfaction.

But dip your cup now
into this abundant source of intoxication in your breast.
The water grows sweeter the more you drink.
It is your personal well, drink all you want.

Truly only one thing is worth having
and only one thing is eternal.

So profound and beautiful. Why is it the simplest truths are the hardest to grasp sometimes?

I have tasted the sweetness of love, the purest of love. There are many types of love... do they all taste as sweet? The intoxication I have not felt... is that from the Soul's love?

Thank you Zenuria,

Sometimes we pretend to not see the truth and deliberately look the other way.

Hello Enreal,

Yes there are many types of love.

When I said "intoxication" I was thinking of the elation that one feels when one's heart is open.

Perhaps what we consider elation is actually just what we would normally feel if stopped hitting our thumbs with a hammer. :)

perhaps indeed =)

Mossy,

This poem came at such an appropriate time in my life . . . the start of a new love. It truly helped me in the moment of hesitation to make the choice to "drink." It is the only thing worth having. Thank you for the nudge in the right direct.

Sorry it took so long to post this comment, but I always seem to have such a time of it commenting here. I kept trying as I wished you to know, your words had an impact in my life.

Thanks again,
Miss D

Hello Miss D,

It is wise of you not to hurry your heart.

Love is a taste of another world. Someday we may learn to just feel love without any object. Till then we have our friends to help us. My best regards to your heart.

Hello Becky,

I am glad you came to visit. Sorry I have not written much lately. Inspiration seems to come and go as it pleases.

I have been fine thank you. I hope that you are well too.
